Hello, folks! Sorry I'm late to post the material for the next class.
As you all know, we are planning to have a different style of practicing our English: studying poetry :)
The first poem is Shakespeare's sonnet #1!

Which is the text below:

Sonnet I

From fairest creatures we desire increase,
That thereby beauty's rose might never die,
But as the riper should by time decease,
His tender heir might bear his memory:
But thou contracted to thine own bright eyes,
Feed'st thy light's flame with self-substantial fuel,
Making a famine where abundance lies,
Thy self thy foe, to thy sweet self too cruel:
Thou that art now the world's fresh ornament,
And only herald to the gaudy spring,
Within thine own bud buriest thy content,
And, tender churl, mak'st waste in niggarding:
Pity the world, or else this glutton be,
To eat the world's due, by the grave and thee.

** What you guys need to do is:

1) Read out loud at least 10 times the first block of the poem; it is from "From fairest..." to "... bear his memory:"
2) Find the words you find difficult to understand (use English-English dictionary! https://www.merriam-webster.com/)
and write all the meanings down on your notebook.
3) Try to understand what the poem means based on what you found for the meanings of the words you don't know.
You can look up the explanations provided for this sonnet (http://www.shakespeares-sonnets.com/sonnet/1)

See you on Tuesday :)
